4th of July Rally Review

What a fantastic weekend rally to celebrate the 4th of July at the Crook Group Campground in Arizona’s mountains! It was dry camping at its best.

The rally began with a “Getting to Know You” happy hour where everyone had an opportunity to introduce themselves in any manner they liked. We heard stories of how we bought trailers, found the 4CU as well as fun recounts of camping antics and trailer upgrades.

Thursday brought the holiday and morning walks and bike rides. Amazingly, there was a nest of bald eaglets on the lake’s edge preparing to fledge out on their own. AZ Fish and Game were on watch and allowed us close-up views through their scope.

After an afternoon of crafting, corn-hole and axe throwing (plastic!), the grills were set for dinner. Following our meal, we took a group walk to the rim to watch the sunset. This became an evening ritual for the group throughout the weekend.

The group bike ride Friday morning had 11 bikers meandering through the pine trees and the campgrounds at Woods Canyon Lake. After more afternoon crafts, it was Terrific Taco night and, of course, Left/Right/Center!!!

Saturday sadly brought a few departures, but the remaining crew enjoyed hanging out at the ramada, playing Farkel or taking a quick ride to nearby Payson. When all returned from midday activities, everyone enjoyed ice cream sundaes.

Our last evening was very relaxed when we thanked Kirby for setting up his astronomy station all weekend long. We were grateful to see spectacular vistas including comets and other stellar sights.

Thank you so much for a fantastic rally. As with all 4CU events, they are only a success with you!
