Hey there 4CU!
Let’s welcome our new members, hear all about the exciting rallies coming on soon for 2026, and a quick news item about traveling the tunnel through Zion National Park.
We’re excited to welcome the following new members and affiliates to the 4CU. Be sure to introduce yourselves to them, when you see them at a rally or streaming down the road soon!
Carol and Bill Munger, 4537, Colorado Springs, CO, Colorado Airstream Club
Nathan Olgilvie and Ryan Shackleford, 15878, Buckeye, AZ, Arizona Airstream Club
Ron and Holly Jorgensen, 1218, North Salt Lake, UT, Wasatch Airstream Club
Do you have plans to visit Zion National Park? Have you seen the updates to travel restrictions through the tunnel on Zion-Mt Carmel Highway between Canyon Junction and the East Entrance?
The National Park Service is implementing new restrictions to travel through the tunnel after 7 June 2026 and will no longer close the tunnel to two way traffic to allow oversize vehicles to drive down the centre of the tunnel.
Here are all the details but it’s important to note that there are single and combined vehicle restrictions that will affect most of our membership. The critical dimensions are the length and maximum width restrictions. With a max width of 7′-10″, most HD trucks (and most Airstream trailers) with extended mirrors will exceed the permissible width. The max trailer length (ball to bumper) of 26′ will exclude many of our rigs from tunnel transit.
Smaller tow vehicles, Basecamps and the new World Traveler trailers should comply with the new restrictions, but measure first!
Plan your trip accordingly!
Keep your finger on that refresh button (if you’re the OC type!) as we have a lot rally announcements and registrations coming over the next month or so.
In fact, you’ll already have seen Friday’s “Save the Date” post for June’s Balloons over Angel Fire. Our hosts for this rally, the Verhines, have a busy schedule, so they wanted you to be well aware of the dates of that rally and when to expect information and the opening date for registration.
Also just out was the rally announcement for Red Rocks, Silver Trailers and Hoodoos! hosted by the Conleys. This rally starts 14 May with registration opening this Saturday, 7 Feb.
Popping right up next will be an announcement and registration for April’s 2026 Dead Horse rally in Cottonwood, Arizona hosted by the Faheys.
Now, here’s a really exciting opportunity for you to get some great travel and Airstream rallying this spring. The Chama, New Mexico rally, hosted by the Fuhrmans, is back-to-back with the Balloons over Angel Fire rally. What better opportunity to get out and experience some of the best of New Mexico with your Airstream and our fabulous Airstream club than to Rally Hop! The Chama rally runs 15-18 June and Balloons runs 18-22!
While I have your attention and you’re all stoked about rallying, let me put a worm in your ear. We still need a host for the Priest Gulch Airstream Rally in Dolores, Colorado in August. Give it a thought and let our rally committee know that you’re interested in hosting this rally!
There are also still some stops that need hosts on the Route 66 Rolling Rally in September! Let us know if you can help out!
However easy you think rally hosting might be, it’s way easier than that! And we’ve a fabulous rally committee here to help YOU!
Each rally has a committee member assigned to assist the hosts. We have easy spreadsheets to prompt you to consider various expenses and activities, build out your budget, and calculate the rally fees. Hosts and co-hosts also receive subsidized rally fees and 4CU swag!
