Categorized as Newsletters, Rally News and Announcements

Hi Four Corners Unit Members!

No, you haven’t time warped. You didn’t miss the May update. We’ve just gone through a reset, shrugged our shoulders at May and are calling this the June update, with the goal of having our monthly updates come to you in the first week of each month. But, you know, it IS just a camping club, so maybe add a little something to the plus minus on that timing.

Now, with that out of the way, what do we have for you this month?

We’ve got our membership update, a rally report from Viv and Lee for May in the Pines, the upcoming rallies report, a reminder to vote, and a note about swag!

Rally Round-Up

May in the Pines

By Vivian FirleinO’Leary:

29 May to 1 June 2025, hosted by first time hosts: Vivian FirLein and Lee Jessop

Six sleek streamers sailed into the springtime mountains for a simply superb sojourn at Flagstaff’s Sunset Crater.

It was a small, laid-back rally, and only a few folks had previously met. The land and location drew our guests outside, most going their own ways during the day, and coming together each evening to share their adventures.

There were two planned events: a Friday Geocaching morning led by Lee and Vivian, and a potluck dinner Saturday night, followed by a couple of games of Left Center Right. We had two campfires, and enjoyed s’mores, songs and guitar.

Strangers became friends, and the weather was perfect. It was Lee and Vivian’s first rally as hosts, and our guests made our job easy.

Here are a few photos from the outing:

Kirby, who has been active in preserving artifacts, found a carefully placed pile of shards and an obsidian point. We were delighted to find them! All we took was photos.

Remember, this rally has an inverted registration process! You’ll need to secure a campsite BEFORE registering for the rally. When the ACE booking site opens, interested members will need to login to Recreation.gov to reserve your campsite. We’ll open the rally registration the following day, hopefully 1 July. Don’t worry!
