4CU March Update

Categorized as Newsletters

It is with great sadness that I pass on the news to the 4CU family that Jerry Nelson, Region 11 webmaster and treasurer passed away on February 14th, following a long battle with cancer. Hold his wife Candace and all the Nelson family close. Jerry was so generous with his time and talents to the Region.

Rally Round-Up

McDowell Art’s and Quilts Rally

By Michael and Jennifer Houlden

After a year away from McDowell, the 4CU returned for another wonderful rally experience.

The “new” group site, which was the old over-flow camping which, itself, was the old group site was serendipitously booked to coincide with both the Fountain Hills Arts Festival with over 500 vendors and the extraordinary QuiltCon exhibition featuring over 600 quilts from the Modern Quilt Guild.

While a contigent of 4CU explored QuiltCon an equally enthusiastic crew donned protective gear and hit the trails!

This was a small, cozy rally with just 11 rigs attending and we used this as an opportunity to do something a little different with our potluck. We provided some structure to the potluck, asking folks to sign up to bring either a salad, veggie entrée, meat entrée or a dessert with enough in the dish for at least half the attendees. The experiment was a huge Success! What a great meal.

Saturday evening featured a rousing round of LCR with Lee Jessup being crowned King of Dots!
