The Four Corners Unit recently received this wonderful thank you note from Barbara J. Temer, Director of the UNM Hospital and Children’s Hospital of New Mexico. We are working to offer a community outreach opportunity or project at each of our rallies so that we can make a positive impact in the local communities.

New rally hosts, Chuck and Andrea Hanson and Jason and Niesha Lopez Elder, welcomed 22 rigs to a weather challenged Verde Valley Rally.
The rally kicked off with a local historian sharing details about the Verde Valley regional of Arizona followed by a chili dump enhanced with fresh cornbread and toppings.
Friday morning greeted the campers with drizzle turning to a wintry mix. That did not keep folks from meeting under the ramada to enjoy fresh coffee and pastries from the local Romero Panaderia. Campers either snuggled in or ventured out to tour the many towns in the Valley. The group enjoyed a “Pairing and Sharing” (a beverage and appetizer tasting) in the early evening. Propane firepits kept the group warm and spirits high.
On Saturday the group woke up to blue skies and snow-covered hillsides surrounding the park. Breakfast came from another local eatery – Pepe’s Café provided excellent breakfast burritos and salsas. The weather supported hiking and exploring the campground, visiting local wineries and a car show in nearby Clarkdale.
The beautiful day culminated in a charity Corn Hole Tournament, providing over $300 for Pets Return Home a local animal rescue service.
The grills were fired up for cooking mains paired with delicious sides from each rig. We were finally able to have the one and only group campfire to cap off the evening.
Sunday morning found campers heading to places near and far. Goodbye to friends, new and enduring!

The Sipeks attended the “Streamin’ on the Strand” National Event Rally for the Galveston, Texas Mardi Gras celebration. This was our first urban rally that we have attended and it was a wonderful experience being downtown with restaurants, shops and a brewery all within walking distance!
The many parades, including the decorated umbrella parade, with a few hundred people going by the Airstreams was worrisome concerning dents and scratches but turned out OK!

Dark Sky RV Park, Kanab, UT
8 – 12 October – Wednesday – Sunday
Once again, the 4CU will travel to Kanab, UT, for a Dark Sky event. Kanab, UT, is centrally located to five national parks, numerous national monuments, and state parks. There is an abundance of hiking and biking in the area. Many trails lead to petroglyphs, slot canyons, hidden lakes, and sand caves. Town amenities are just a few miles away. Kanab has several great coffee shops, grocery stores, and off-road adventures.
This area is just breathtaking! Within a short drive, you can explore Zion National Park, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, or Peekaboo Slot Canyon. Lake Powell is a little over an hour away, and Bryce Canyon National Park is a little further down the road at 81 miles away. Our hosts, Don and Karen Conley, just returned from Dark Sky, and they loved Vermillion Cliffs. It is a photographer’s paradise!
