Wait?! What’s an affiliate member? Okay, glad you asked!
(Don’t need all this preamble? The link is at the bottom!)
In the Airstream Club International (ACI) club there are many (lots!) of smaller regional units – some span multiple states/provinces like the Four Corners Unit (4CU), some are smaller sub-state regions and many are individual state.
Usually, but not always, folks join and become a “full member” of a club proximal to their primary location. But there’s a lot of clubs and some folks do a lot of travelling and want to be kept in the loop and be involved with the goings-on of other clubs.
Enter the affiliate membership. By joining other groups as an affiliate member, you become a member of that club with all the benefits associated with it except voting rights. Only full members have voting rights, you have to be a full member to have voting rights in a unit, and you may be a full member of only one unit.
Right! So how do you do this, joining as an affiliate? I have to admit, I’ve wondered this myself – we spend the winters in the SW and joined the 4CU as our primary club, but we spend summers in Ontario and finding out what was happening in Ontario is difficult without being a member. I would regularly check the club reports in the Blue Beret, but rarely a peep about the goings-on in Ontario.
I have paged through much of the ACI member site but never noticed how to join another group as an affiliate. Then Barbara Engelmann sent out this link which had just been updated by the International office. And tada! A sensationally simple Jotform, a couple bucks, and I joined us up as affiliates in Ontario!
Here’s the link!
