This was a new rally location for the 4CU for 2023. The 17 rigs were warmly welcome by the rally hosts and co-hosts, to this beautiful, spacious and well-equipped group campground. Caballo State Park is located close to Truth or Consequences and Hatch New Mexico. All sites had electric and a shared water spigot. The dump station was not far away. The group took full advantage of the large covered ramada; equipped with electricity, tables and grills.
Each morning the group gathered for a continental breakfast with one morning enjoying the famous Frontier sweet rolls. They were so yummy.
On Friday evening the attendees divided in 2 groups and enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Arreys Cafe, a local restaurant. Some enjoyed it so much; they returned the next day for lunch.
On Friday and Saturday morning we fired up our charity sewing machines and made 75 bags to donate to the organization Beads of Courage.
These bags hold different color beads for seriously ill children who receive a bead for different medical procedures.
On Saturday evening we had a cookout followed with dessert by the fire.
Caballo Lake State Park is very large and amenable to hiking and all types of outdoor activities. During the rally, several people took a soak in nearby hot springs while others ventured into Hatch and brought souvenirs or enjoyed a green chili cheeseburger from Sparky’s. Still others hiked down by the river in the park and enjoyed the beauty of the park.

At the annual rally at Catalina State Park, where we leave electricity behind and enjoy the dry camping group area of the Oro Valley, AZ, not a minute was without enthusiastic smiles and our Four Corners Unit spirit!
After enjoying sweets from local Blue Finch Bakery each morning, we hiked and biked the trails, prepared for community service projects and relaxed with friends. The beautiful weather made for great opportunities for gathering under the ramada for discussions about the upcoming rallies in California and Texas as well as enjoying a visit from the representatives of SkyMed with an ice cream snack. Some took time for crafting and gathering “helpful hints” posted along the clothesline!
One welcome addition to the weekend was a kettle corn truck making fresh popcorn for that afternoon energy boost needed to make it to the nightly open grill dinner! The major attraction this year was the stellar performance of Amber Norgaard on Saturday evening. We all got cozy under the clear, cool skies while Amber played her original songs and many popular favorites where we could sing along.
As always, thanks to every attendee whose contribution makes each rally a success.

Most arrived on Thursday the 28th with a total 24 rigs in the Quail Group Loop and 5 rigs in the main campground.
This year the weather was fantastic – nice warm days with Saturday topping out at 73°. The nights were only into the 40s and overall spectacular.
Sophia Rogers and Bonnie Bobman coordinated the annual sewing for charity event and made numerous pillowcases for children with serious illnesses for the Basket of Hope organization.
Each evening was capped with a happy hour and made complete with stunning sunsets and a group bonfire.
We did a group hike to the Saddle of the peak on Saturday. 5.6 miles round trip. Some of us also visited the Rooster Cogburn’s Ostrich Ranch on Saturday after the hike.
We were visited on Saturday afternoon by Steve Clark from We Are Airstream in Chandler along with a 2024 Airstream Pottery Barn for everyone to tour.
Sunday afternoon was the much-anticipated White Elephant Gift Exchange and as always was over two hours of fun entertainment accompanied by a Bloody Mary Bar.
Sunday Evening, we had our annual New Year’s Eve bonfire to ring in 2024, most celebrated on NYC time and were in bed by 10:30.
We have already reserved the Quail Group area for 2024-25 NYE Rally, be sure to mark your calendar and save the dates. The rally will start on Saturday December 28 and end on Wednesday January 1, 2025
