We Need Your Help for Chama, NM Rally

TL;DR

We still don’t have a host for this rally. Step up! We need you! Tell us you’re game.

Hey members!

A couple of days ago we asked for your help.

Response? Crickets. Not even a whisper in the wind.

Y’all said, “more rallies”.

Well, we’re trying, but the same 4 hosts can’t host 12 rallies a year – c’mon, y’all know this to be true. And, y’all know our rallies are pretty chill and we’ll give you all the support you need. It’s your call if the rally is chill, simple and quiet or a highly organized affair.

We’re doing a ton of work to get more rallies on the calendar but we can’t do it without hosts. This is a pretty easy gig, but it’s essential.

We currently have a rally site booked in Chama, NM for 16-19 June, but we don’t have a host to finish the organization and push it across the finish line. We’re days away from having to cancel this rally.

Here’s the ask:

  • Volunteer as host
  • Plan some activities – maybe it’s just a chill session with a couple happy hours and campfires and all you need to do is buy some firewood. Maybe you go all out and book a musician, a food truck, fire up the grill in the morning and serve up deluxe pancakes and waffles. Put out a call to members for activities they may want to organize and run. Whatever! It’s your call.
  • Estimate the costs and then provide all the details to the Jotform Manager who gets the registration and sign-up messages ready
  • Answer member questions about the rally plans and move people from waitlist to registration list if required and with the assistance of the Jotform Manager
  • Keep track of any expenses and if there are significant expenses the club will pay rather you fronting the dosh
  • Show up a couple hours before everyone else and execute your rally schedule
  • Reap the love and gratitude from the attendees for volunteering as host
  • Submit a summary with a brief list of expenses and receipts to the treasurer and you’ll be reimbursed for any outlays

That’s it!

As much or little work as you want it to be. It’s not hard. It’s a ton of fun. You aren’t alone in the wilderness. An entire team is there to help and support you.

So, what do you say?

Yeah, I knew you’d agree. Here’s the link, tell us you’re up for it and we don’t have to cancel this great rally before it even gets started.

For years people have been providing feedback that it’s hard to get into rallies. It’s a huge hassle to get into campgrounds in general. And, why aren’t there more rallies?

In the past a rally only happened if someone got up the moxie to find a great location, identify a campsite, make booking arrangements, sometimes even paying out-of-pocket to secure the site, and just generally doing a lot of logistical work to get a rally set up.

In response to the demand for more rallies, your leadership team has done a ton of work this year. A decision was made to act fast and book sites of general awesome-ness when they were available with the goal of getting to 12 rallies per year – a rally every month.

The result is that we’re booking some rally sites first and assigning a host second. Sometimes, the folks originally planning to host the rally can’t make it – life happens.

Bottom line – No Host, No Rally.
