Rally Roundup

2022 wrapped up a pair of what have become our fixture rallies: Tucson Unplugged in November and New Years at Picacho over, well, New Years.

Tucson Unplugged

The third annual Tucson Unplugged rally at Catalina State Park continued its tradition of Unplug, Unwind and Relax before holiday chaos descends.

Members from as far as Washington and Iowa circled their wagons and enjoyed sunny skies and cool nights that had everyone hiking, biking, and hanging under the ramada and catching up with fellow Airstreamers.

Continuing the Tucson Unplugged rally tradition of grastronomical entertainment, chefs extraordinaire Tamara and Anthony set up pizza ovens for everyone to become pie artists creating unique and yummy personal pizzas. Pizza dough was made up in the morning to rise in time for lunch and before we knew it, the inaugural 4CU Pizzeria was hopping.

Pizza Success!

Group BBQ dinners, Rock Springs planning discussions and general camaraderie gave all the chance to relax and recharge for the coming holiday session.

New Years at Picacho

Finally! Decent weather at New Years. While it wasn’t beach at spring break it was one of the nicer New Years at Picacho in recent memory so long as we all exercise selective amnesia about the foul weather that scuttled the New Years Eve campfire.

Picacho Sunset

37 rigs rallied around Quail Loop with all four corners represented as well as Michigan, Wisconsin and Ontario. Hikes were made, bikes were ridden and money changed hands rapidly at the LCR tournament.

An astounding 64 pillow cases were created at the 8th annual 4CU New Years Service Project. This year’s project was headed up by Bonnie and provided some love and care to Cases for Smiles.

Operation Pillow Cases

An impromptu poetry jam delighted members with a showcase of member talent and the weekend’s anchor event, the White Elephant exchange, provided laughs and good times in the sun!

Rally Plans

The rally committee led by Cathy Fuhrman has been busy putting together plans to expand our rally activities with the goal of getting to 2 rallies per month. There has been loads of enthusiasm from club members about hosting rallies and ideas for rally locations and times. Some of these have already made the list below, and others are still percolating.

As always, if you have an idea for a rally theme or have found a great location in your travels that you’d love to share with your fellow Airstreamers, check out the Rally Planning Guide for more details.

Maybe you aren’t ready or able to put up your hand to host a rally but have found a great spot for a rally, just email the details and we’ll forward the idea on to the Rally Committee for consideration.

But..!!…Consider thisHosts always get into their own rallies and it’s way easier than you might think. A rally is only as complex or busy as you choose to make it.

All available rally registrations are found HERE on the Four Corners Unit – Airstream Club International site.

2024

Remember!

4CU rallies are as diverse as our members! Dry camping with thirty trailers is as successful as a full service RV park. You’ll find 4CU rallies on a lake, by a river, open in the desert and in the mountains. It’s always a group effort where members are encouraged to participate and create activities at the event. You never know what will happen at a 4CU rally!

Gotta Cancel?

We get it. Life happens. Remember that rally spots are camp sites and just like any camping these days it’s a seriously frustrating to book sites these days so, if you gotta cancel, please:

  • First get in touch with your hosts! There is always a long waiting list for 4CU rallies! A new member might be hoping to attend their first rally!
  • Last minute changes? Call or text your host ASAP – emails may not reach them in time. With 329 member trailers in every state there is always someone close by to pop on over and fill your spot.

We all know how difficult it is to secure camping sites. Please be respectful of your hosts and your fellow Airstreamers.
