Do you have fond memories of summer camp as a kid? Did you always want to go but never got the chance? Did you go but count the days until you returned home?
Whether you went or didn’t, loved it or hated it, please join us just outside of Cloudcroft, NM for a rally paying homage to summer camp in decades past. Everything old is new again!
Your rally hosts are the coolest quartet of camp counselors around and it is up to you to pick and choose what you want to do. Play games, take part in crafts, visit with friends old and new or even nap through the rally if that is what makes you happy. It’s not summer camp precisely as it was, but as it should have been! The only thing you actually have to participate in is Monday’s planned departure.
We’ll offer potlucks and cookouts, games, arts and crafts, campfires every evening, and lots of s’mores. We’ll make sure you know about many of the other interesting things to do in the area, including hiking and biking trails and other sites of interest. Dennis will be organizing a golf outing on Saturday or Sunday— let us know if you are interested on the registration form and we’ll keep you posted as more details become available.
Fir Group Campground is located about a mile outside of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, on New Mexico Highway 244, tucked in amongst tall pines and firs in the Lincoln National Forest. The campground is at an altitude of approximately 9000 feet, so anticipate some adjustments when coming from significantly lower elevations. Daytime high temperatures at this time of year are usually in the mid-60s to mid-70s, with overnight lows in the high-30s to high-40s.
This beautiful campground offers a total of 18 campsites and is strictly dry camping, with no hookups. A dump station and showers are both available for a fee just over a mile away at the Silver Overflow area (as of last August, both services cost $5). You are absolutely welcome to bring a generator!
There are large ramadas at each end of the campground, with ample parking for those who prefer to not walk from one end to the other. Trash receptacles and pit toilets are convenient to the ramadas.
Please note that the rally hosts will procure all firewood used during the rally due to restrictions designed to prevent spread of pests and disease.
Rally fees are $37 per rig for the campsite PLUS $17 per person. The $37 campsite fee is for the entire weekend, and is NOT a per night fee. Please note: due to the limited number of campsites we enourage you to register early to reserve your spot. The deadline for withdrawing from the rally and receiving a full refund is April 30. After that date a refund will only be possible if we are able to fill your spot.
This is a WBCCI rally. Airstream owners who are not members of WBCCI may attend as guests on a space-available basis. Please contact the host to make arrangements.
