The Capitol Reef 4CU Rally will be held on May 10th thru the 15th at Thousand Lakes RV Park in Torrey UT This rally immediately follows the Moab 3 Rally being held at the ACT Campground in Moab UT from May 6th thru May 10th . There are a number of firsts associated with this rally.

  • First time the 4CU has had a rally
    •  In South Central UT, and specifically at Thousand Lakes RV Park
    •  That is back to back with another rally, in this case Moab 3
    • Over Mother’s Day week end, can’t you just feel the excitement brewing
    • With a venue featuring Capitol Reef NP, a very, very large NP in South Central UT
    • For first timers or folks who have not visited Southern UT should watch this Sean and Christy Michael YouTube Video. Warning it is a 25-minute video but well worth the watch

Thousand Lakes RV Park is located in Torrey Utah a stone’s throw from Capitol Reef NP. If you are unfamiliar with the area, I strongly suggest you follow the hyper link provided and review all of the information tabs. Their services are extremely comprehensive and frankly it is one of the best RV Parks we have stayed at. This particular link takes you to the Area Guide tab for Thousand Lakes which can be a valuable planning resource if you decide to attend this rally . Please sign up quickly as rally registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and will be closed effective April 12th. It is a goodsized park and we have reserved 27 sites for this 4CU Rally. A wait list will be established as soon as the 27-rig limit is achieved. Specifically, sites 23-49 are reserved and can be viewed on the site/park map. All sites are full hook up; # 23-39 have 30/50-amp service, site #30, and #40-49 have 30-amp service. There is a Group Shelter/Pavilion just South of these sites in the area referenced as the horseshoe pit on the site map. It has been reserved for our use from May 10th – May 14th. The shower facility and laundry are directly East of those sites. The park office has an extensive camp store inventory, gift shop, and you can get propane there as well, both 20- and 30-gallon tanks.

Please make your site reservations directly with Thousand Lakes at 1-800-355-8995 letting them know you are with the 4CU Airstream Unit. Reservations can also be made on line via the park;s Website (see above link). As a courtesy to the park we would like you to make your reservations no later than February 15th. Camping fees for 2018 were $40.50, for full hook up sites (subject to change for 2019). A 10% group camping discount will also be provided. We are working to have the park assign you a particular site at the time you make your reservations. If you plan on registering for the rally, please do NOT make your site reservations until you receive confirmation from the Roses that your registration has been logged and accepted.

This is a WBCCI rally. WBCCI members are welcome to attend. Non-Member Airstream owners may attend as guests by contacting the rally hosts to make arrangements.

We are working on making Mother’s Day special with an optional morning brunch to be catered by Torrey Grill and BBQ. The cost and menu will be provided in subsequent updates. Plans are also underway to have an optional dinner also catered by Torrey Grill and BBQ on Tuesday. The rally theme will be Campground Adventures and the Best of the Best. This will be a great deal of fun, will provide more detailed information in the near future.

The Wagon Masters and the Head Wranglers are asking for some rally support/help with a call out for volunteers to:

  • Bring a bottle of wine, vodka or tequila to share at our first happy hour in lieu of a snack, sweets, or appetizer. This will be the basis for the “bar” for the remainder of the rally. Traditionally, while alcohol is common and totally acceptable at 4CU rallies, the unit cannot provide alcohol as a matter of potential liability. Consequently, any alcohol made available to attendees should be privately donated rather than provided by the unit. (see daily agenda for more details)
  • Bring some firewood.
  • Start campfires on the 7th, 8th, and 9th (Dependent on weather and interest)
  • Help serve continental breakfast, ensuring things go smoothly and that food and beverages are available as necessary. (7th, 8th, and 9th)
  • Clean up after the Happy Hour’s, and 4CU dinner.
  • One man and women (no husband and wife) to act a Master of Ceremonies, MC for judging the Campground Adventures and the Best of the Best Competion.
  • Volunteers are asked to sign up on registration form.

Preliminary Agenda

Agenda details are not finalized, and more information will be provided in subsequent updates. Feel free at any time to reach out to Ed Whitney  with any questions you may have. The following venue provides a snapshot of what the rally may offer. The area within a 100-mile radius of Torrey is extremely picturesque and worthy of some real gasoline consumption. There will be ample time in the venue for you to do your own sight-seeing!
